Valentine’s Day Brunch with Jen Lutz

Valentine's Day Brunch with Jen Lutz

After Christmas clean up and recovery, I enjoy doing a few simple Valentine’s Day preparations to add a little fun to the month of February. For our family, celebrating Valentine’s Day is mostly about letting each other know that we love and care about one another. We love brunch, and celebrating Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to set a lovely table — filled with omelet, ham, and muffins. Because the holiday falls on a weekday, we decided to celebrate on Sunday instead to enjoy a more leisurely meal together.

Bakery Style Muffins

I try to include a festive element to the celebration each year. Since I enjoy baking, I prepped a Valentine’s Day brunch table complete with Bakery-Style Mocha Chocolate Chip muffins from a recipe in the Cook’s Illustrated Baking Book. I’m a firm believer that a little chocolate — especially on Valentine’s Day — is a good thing.

For my décor, I found some fun accent pieces at Marshall’s, including cupcake holders and XO, heart, and arrow banners. Cute, affordable, and simple! I also bought a pretty white and linen table runner. I layered it with paper hearts, candles, and white, red, and pink roses.

At Hobby Lobby, I found pretty, floral cardstock paper by designer Anna Griffin. I used it to make name cards and then used the rest as artwork inside picture frames on my mantel.
