First held in Australia back in 1980, Christmas in July has become an annual occasion worldwide. It’s the perfect chance to take a break midyear and share cheer in our communities. This year, we partnered with The B Brave Foundation to put up a special Christmas in July celebration. Read on to learn more about it.
An Advocate for Young Patients
Sam and Sara Scaparotti created the B Brave Foundation in memory of their beloved son Joey. At just 15 months old, Joey was diagnosed with GM-1, a fatal neurological disorder. He passed away in August 2017, and his story has since inspired family and strangers alike.
Today, B Brave Foundation aims to care for young patients, support families, and empower caregivers. They work with Cleveland Clinic to create better lives for children with neurological disorders.
A Colorful Christmas in July
Last June 24, Santa Claus made an early visit to the Cleveland Clinic for a summer-themed Christmas party. Our brand ambassador Jen Lutz dressed up a pre-lit Majestic Blue Spruce with bright paper fans, sparkly ribbons, funky sunglasses, and a koala in honor of B Brave Foundation.
Kids, doctors, and nurses joined the festivities and tried their hand at various arts and crafts. To cap off the fun, B Brave Foundation and Cleveland Clinic donated gifts for Santa and his elves to give away.
A Community Affair
Truly, it was a memorable Christmas in July celebration made possible by various groups and volunteers. Check out Jen’s blog for her insider’s story on the party.
